Herbert F Hopkins

Herbert F Hopkins is an established writer, musician, and woodcarver. He is also the founder of Words and Wood Publishing and has written and published three novels and a book of poetry (with hand-carved wooden covers) that was acquired by the National Library of Canada for its National Book Preservation Centre. Many of his relief woodcarvings were created in tandem with his written work and sold upon completion. His large two panel relief carving of the skyline of St. John’s was acquired by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador through the Art Bank Program. Hopkins’ first love is singing and song writing and he has performed for many years in his hometown of St. John’s, NL. Often, Hopkins combines his three art forms to complete a single project. More recently, however, he has turned has hand to writing children's books, firstly penning the internationally recognized "Jesse and the Seven Wonders of the World," and now "Jesse and the Seven Wonders of St. John's." In 2023, he will release the next in the "Jesse" series, "Jesse and the Seven Wonders of Newfoundland." Hopkins has been fortunatete to have collaborated with some of the finest Newfoundland artists like Boyd Chubbs, Marin Darmonkow and Corey Majeau.

Hopkins lives in St. John's with his beautiful wife, Jane, and their one-eyed mutt, Pirate (aka Pilot).
